While researching, writing, and editing hundreds of thousands of words throughout my nearly twenty-year career, I’ve observed several fundamental practices regarding the craft. Because writers are working toward improving their business, it’s my goal to share them.
When you see a writer disappear from social media, do you wonder what’s happened to them? Are they writing? Do they have another job keeping them away? Did they forget to post? What’s happening?
Freelance writers face a challenge each time they open their laptop or sit at their desk to begin working. They’re juggling an assortment of projects simultaneously. Documents, files, and other information are spread across their work surfaces.
Out of all the questions I’m asked about freelance writing, the one that comes up the most is, “where can I find freelance writing work?” New writers don’t want to know the “secret” to find the hidden gems or where they can find “goldmines” if they sign up to specialized lists or services. They want straight answers about how to do this, where they can find leads, and who to contact.
